Mike ZPennsylvaniaAge: 35-44Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5Perfect Bible!October 8, 2025Mike ZPennsylvaniaAge: 35-44Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for RSV Personal Size Reference Bible--soft leather-look, brown.Great font size, perfect Bible size and awesome translation! I really enjoy the RSV. It has as much poetry as any other Bible translation but flows a little faster. If your on the fence about the KJV, I used this to get used to the old english phrasing and now I can swap this for a KJV at will. God Bless!
If your already comfortable with the RSV, this is going to be your favorite Bible in print! -
null5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful! I've Bought 3 Copies!November 14, 2025nullQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for RSV Personal Size Reference Bible--soft leather-look, purple. This is just a beautiful Bible all around! I've purchased two for my family and one as a wedding gift (lucky couple!). The RSV adeptly balances beautiful prose with updated language, making it a "modern classic" that is widely hailed by Scripture scholars to be ideal for both everyday reading and in-depth study. It's respectful to the original texts but won't confuse you or leave you deep in the theological weeds. There are several colors available; I chose the deep purple leatherette cover. It's quite elegant and the typeset is easy on the eyes and well laid out. Everyone who sees this volume on my desk says "Where did you get it? I want one!"

JohnD4 Stars Out Of 5Exceeded expectations - expect this to be a "keeper"October 10, 2024JohnDQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for RSV Personal Size Reference Bible--soft leather-look, brown. For a little background, I normally use ebooks. I am new to reading the word digitally, so bible-study apps were not on my radar, and I could not find a version of the classic RSV available as an epub or kindle book. That's what led me to this book.
I was concerned prior to ordering because several reviews posted elsewhere online mention printing problems with this book (and others in the Sovereign Collection). The printing problems described have to do with the depth of the red color used, as well as some pages looking more "faded" compared to others. I'm happy to report that this is not an issue with the copy of the book I ordered from christianbook.com. The red on some pages may be "slightly" less deep than in other places, but it is nowhere near as bad as described in some other reviews online. I'm very picky/OCD about my books, and since my eyesight is failing, I really didn't want to have a book with a printing issue.
I haven't spent too much time with this bible yet, but I have thumbed through various parts of the volume and haven't encountered a problem. As for the text itself: I'm mainly a reader of the KJV and ASV, so this is a new translation for me. I have also read parts of the ESV, and I like how this kind of sits in between of the archaic and the modern. The formatting is also very nice. After spending quite a bit of time staring at ebooks, it's nice to look at these pages when reading the bible, and it gets me excited to read.
Recommended! Thank you!
