Y'all, I gotta brag on the customer service here at Christian Book. I had ordered a different NLT Bible as a Christmas gift for my mom. I was looking for something teal, Filament-enabled, and large print. There was one that seemed absolutely perfect, right down to the sunflowers on the cover. However, when it arrived, we discovered that the print size was different than what the website described. In a flash, I was emailing customer support and asking if I had missed something. The people that responded were AWESOME! Everything got sorted out and they even recommended a replacement Bible with the right type size! This one, in fact, the one with the vines on the cover. My mom loves her new Bible and all the fantastic Filament features. Thank you, Christian Book Distributors! :)

This is a very unique bible. When used the app there is a wealth of information. Videos, maps, study notes, chapter overviews. I will take mine to church to show my church members who are interested. I know they have not seen this bible. And all the reference material is free. Just download the free app.

While I favor the more literal word for word translations (NASB95, NKJV, ESV, KJV), I have wanted to read some of the NLT for quite some time. (It had its start from the popular paraphrased Living Bible.) I ordered this inexpensive edition and I'm impressed with the beautiful synthetic cover, both the lovely soft eucalyptus green/light teal color and the vine design. This Bible lies open easily in one hand and is Smyth sewn. The 10.25-pt print is large enough (not giant) for imperfect vision, and the Bible is still a thinline. The text is line-matched with minimal ghosting and is in paragraph format. The words of Christ are in black. I wish there were more generous leading (space between lines) but the text is still very readable. I also wish it had at least one ribbon as most Bibles do, but that's a minor thing. For the low price I couldn't bring myself to deduct an overall star for those things nor for the lack of any edge gilding.

This edition includes a nice "Life Application" section in the back and some translation notes at the bottom of some pages, but there are no other printed references or maps. Instead this edition has access to the optional, free, and easy to use Filament app which provides supplemental study and devotional materials in the app. That's a unique feature that keeps the Bible more compact, a good mix of print and technology.

This is a good edition of the Bible if you are looking for a thought-for-thought translation in easily understood and more casual English. I think I will enjoy reading and comparing this NLT. This would also be a great gift for young girls and women. It's so pretty it just begs to be picked up and read. :-)
