The Comfort Print is more like 9.5 but very readable. If it were larger, the Bible would weigh more and it's already 5.3#. It has a color scheme that separates books into sections (5 Books of Moses, Old Testament History, Poetry, Prophets, Gospels and the Early Church, Letters and Revelation), so you always know which section you're in. The pictures and articles are wonderful and helpful for understanding the text. The article about the Parable of the Persistent Traveler (Luke 11:5-8) explains how people traveled at night to avoid the intense daytime heat and it was common to ask favors of neighbors. The study notes customs and ideas that may be unfamiliar to modern readers. While the notes and articles include explanations of theological concepts ("rapture " in 1 Thess. 4, "justification" in Romans 3), it isn't overwhelming. The in text maps and the maps at the end have a nice color scheme and the words are in nice large print. There is a harmony of the Gospels and chart of the Rulers of tbe Divided Kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

The NIV translation is one that i understand and am comfortable with and that I keep reading.

The NIV Study Bible is an old friend and this updated edition makes it even better.

Much easier to read 10.5 type for extended periods & great references maps etc. Will stay home on my desk while I keep carrying my thin line to church & bible studies as it is very thick & heavy BUT I expected that. Enjoying the new type font a LOT. A friend has already ordered one after seeing mine. AND BE CAREFUL opening pages at first because they DO STICK TOGETHER.

This is my fourth NIV Study Bible and the second large print one. Much better than the last NIV large print Study Bible which was way too huge to carry. This one is manageable to carry. Love the notes and articles, as they really give great background information without theological biases. The print is larg-er than the regular Bible, but not like the large print of the ESV Large Print Study Bible, for example. This Bible is jammed packed with material and in spite of its size is my everyday carry.

It gas all of my Must Haves: Indexedvand red letter. Thee large print is 10.5 but in Comfort print and darkly printed it is very easy for my eyes to read and not get tired. Even the notes arr darkly printed! excellent!! This is why I changed from my Life App NLT large print. The notes were not dark enough. Makes all the difference! Also the book openers are more informative and a lot more maps charts and pics! Love it!
