There are several features I find very helpful. First, apart from section headings, there is nothing to distract me from the reading of the text. And the headings don't tend to distract me.

Next, each volume is lightweight and the paper is thick and durable. I can hold each volume up in front of me rather than bending my neck down, like I would a regular book, and read it easily when sitting in a chair. A conventional Bible with its Bible paper is heavier and is best read when it is placed on a table so the pages don't flop.

Finally, there is a lot of room for me to record my thoughts. I don't like to write in my regular Bible, and here my notes are on a separate page so that they won't distract me when I read the passage again.

I have found that the ease of holding without bending my neck and reading without distraction has encouraged me to spend more time--much more time--reading and meditating on the Bible. I hope they come out with the same journal for the Old Testament.

I really wish Crossway would make an Illuminated Old Testament set just like this! I have written to them and requested, they replied and said it's possible depending on how well this set does. So review! And request! I just emailed them on their Facebook page. If you don't have this set - GET IT. You will not regret your purchase, I promise. The weight of the paper is perfect, it's not thin like your average Bible. The font is larger, which for me makes it easier to read. There are plenty of blank pages to make notes as you're studying, and since the paper is great quality you can highlight and mark without any bleeding.

God's word is Beautiful and to hold these books in ones hands just makes it even more so. I purchased this set not only to art journal into but to become inspired to read the word more. I found myself running into old friends as I picked up my usual bible and wondered just why I didn't pick it up more often. This set just calls out to you to come read and to spend time alone with God. To pick up the Galatians , Ephesians or the Corinthians book, you just have to wonder, how did so many fantastic life changing scriptures get into such a little book, a little letter. You just have to smile at this God of Ours. Purchase the set you won't be disappointed. I plan on giving these as Family Christmas Gifts 2019. I can hardly wait for the Old Testament to come out.

I've had this set for only a few days, but I'm in love with it. The beauty of each of the books is wild! All of them are individually designed, which a number of illustrations throughout each book. It's so convenient to just grab the book of Colossians when I'm going to study or meditate on Scripture, or throw one of the books in my bag on my way to work. The format is very inviting for writing out notes and illustrations.

This is an awesome New Testament set ! I can't say enough good things about it. Gorgeous and elegant artwork with large and nicely spaced text. Having the NT broken up into individual books along with a blank page opposing each page makes it unbelievably readable. It is also printed on heavy paper, not the super delicate paper found in many bibles. This will totally restore your passion to delve into Sacred Scripture just because of the pleasure, joy, and ease of reading it in such an accessible format. A fantastic gift idea as well.
