The journey itself starts at Romans 1:16, I would not personally begin there for outreach, however it does go through the tenants of repentance and so on. The booklet is lovely, the translation is perfectly optimal to read, fantastic for personal outreach. However, would not recommend for general outreach. That being said, the book feels comfortable in my hands, it is so small but the print is not painfully fine, and the cover is incredibly welcoming. Great place to begin for new Christians.

I have purchased over 500 of The Invitation New Testaments and have been pleased with, and happy to distribute the item, until this last box of 108 arrived.

The earlier version (HCSB with 244 pages) of The Invitation had very small print for older people, but I used them with an accompanying tract. Because of the type size, I would give that older HCSB Testament a 4plus rating.

This newer, CSB The Invitation (CSB with 230 pages) is problematic (for me). I would give it a rating of about 3, because:

1. As to the Gospel presentation: I feel the presentation based in Romans should be tied to and include reference to John 3, and therefore I would give a rating of 4.

2. As for the translation, I would give it a 5.

3. As for the finished product, I would give it a 0 if you had that rating. The type size of the older HCSB presentation was extremely small, and I had a number of recipients say, Oh the print is small. As I was comparing the two The Invitation products, I immediately noticed that you have used an even smaller, darker font on the newer CSB Invitation, and for reading I find this unacceptable. The type size has been reduced, maybe to save 14 pages, but the present form, for me, is not useful for evangelism outreach. I will be looking for a different evangelism tool. The type-font size and dark print and off-white paper are totally unacceptable, for my needs.

I will grade as follows:

1. Gospel presentation pages, 4.

2. Translation, 5.

3. Presentation: print size and type intensity with off white paper, 0.

4. FINAL RATING, about a 3.

I find it hard to recommend the newer CSB version of this product. You have a magnificent product: but its presentation makes it a poor evangelism tool.

I'm accustomed to writing four or five star reviews for products that I'm satisfied with. It's not going to happen today.

My two-star review is NOT for the translation itself. I have found my translation for life in the CSB. The problem is in the gospel presentation outline the publisher chose. It starts at Romans 1:16 with a page heading that reads "God's power can make us secure." What? The pre-believer needs to be made aware of their sin problem and its due penalty. Better to have started at Romans 1:18 if you were going to take this track. This is the first of many problems I saw in their gospel presentation.

The gospel invitation found in the back is also fraught with problems. In the Gospel of John, the sole condition to receive salvation is mentioned over 90 times. It is faith alone - nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. What does that saving faith entail? Three things: 1) Knowledge of who Christ is, 2) Acceptance of His person and work, 3) Trust in Christ alone to save. The latter is gleaned from the author of the book "Free and Clear" by R. Larry Moyer of Evantell Ministries. Does this New Testament use this information? Disappointingly, no. It uses the unbiblical "Ask Jesus into your heart" and "I am willing to change the direction on my life by acknowledging Jesus and my Lord and Savior and by turning away from my sins." These things are not part of saving faith. (At best, they are trade material to barter with the Lord. The Lord does not accept barter in exchange for salvation.) They are part of discipleship, not salvation nor are they ever used in conjunction with the gospel offer in the New Testament. It would have been much much better to have incorporated the content of the tract from Evantell titled "May I ask you a question?" The gospel is presented clearly without these unbiblical accoutrements.

I'm saddened that I can not hand out this New Testament to pre-believers. I'll have to look elsewhere.

The cover is very nice looking. The font is very small and difficult to read. I will not be using it for evangelism which was my intent.

I like the book (good quality and price), but the font is way too small to be comfortable for most to read.
