Product Description

Charles Spurgeon wrote these, classic, one-page daily devotions to be read each morning and evening to encourage his fellow believers. Over one hundred years later, Spurgeons devotions continue to encourage Christians with the message of God's love. Each meditation is founded on a single verse of Scripture, inspiring and exhorting readers to rely upon God's care for people and to respond to that love with ever deeper service. This edition features Scripture taken from the NIV, an imitation leather binding, silver gilded page edges, and a satin ribbon marker.

Author Bio

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (18341892) served for 30 years at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London. It is estimated that during his lifetime he spoke to 10 million people, and he became known as the Prince of Preachers. His works fill over 60 volumes; and more than a century after his death, his sermons and devotional texts continue to challenge and touch Christians and non-Christians alike with their biblical grounding, eloquent text, and simple encouragement. Among his published books are Lectures to My Students (Hendrickson); The Treasury of David (Hendrickson), a devotional commentary on the Psalms; All of Grace, the first Christian pocket-paperback published in the United States; numerous volumes of topical sermon collections; and the best-selling Morning and Evening.

Publisher's Description

Make the most of your mornings and evenings with Spurgeon's classic devotional--presented here in your choice of elegant bonded leather bindings and Scripture translations. Enjoy the original edition with Spurgeon's classic prose accompanied by the beautiful language of the King James Version of the Bible. Or select the gently updated edition which combines a contemporary language text revision with the fresh, meaningful prose of the New International Version. No matter which you choose, you'll appreciate Spurgeon's insight and wise counsel--and his love for and knowledge of the Word of God.
Meditating on two portions of Scripture each day--732 in all--with applications relevant for contemporary Christians, Spurgeon's characteristic comments hit home with a wit and style rarely found in other writings. These unabridged editions of his beloved devotional feature gilded page edges, a ribbon marker, and illuminated initial letters on each reading. A concise text index lets you discover what Spurgeon had to say on nearly every Biblical topic. And a topical index helps you find his thoughts and wisdom on specific issues you're dealing with right now.
Morning and Evening is a welcome gift for any occasion--and Spurgeon's reflections bring a special richness to personal time with the Lord, too!
