This Bible is simply awesome! I still Love my good ole 1611 KJV better as far as comparing it to any other version goes so I was glad to finally have this one instead of the NIV that I had previously bought of this version of the Bible. Reading the EXACT name of God where it is and not "Lord", "LORD", "God","Christ", "Jesus", etc... is SO much more excitingly explanatory (for me) as far as seeing to understand what characteristic name of God is being spoken of at that very time.

    For example:

Deuteronomy 4:24 (Names of God Bible - KJV)

For the LORD [Yahweh] thy God [Elohim] is a consuming fire [Esh Oklah], even a jealous God [El Kanna].

Whereas the plain 1611 KJV is obviously the same (b/c this is the KJV [version]) BUT without any of the names of God that are written in the brackets.

The Holman CSB version states Deuteronomy 4:24 this way:

"For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God."

Not to be disrespectful to God or His Holy Word in any way; but isn't that too plain and very generic?

The NIV puts it this way:

    Deuteronomy 4:24

"For ADONAI your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God."

    Hmmmmmm? "ADOONAI"?

If one looks it up in the Strong's Concordance it actually comes up as being #3068 - which is the word "Jehovah".

The "Interlinear Bible (written by Dr. Jay P. Green) --- Hebrew Greek and English" has it down this way:

    *Deuteronomy 4:24

"consuming a (is) fire your God Jehovah for your God Jehovah you commanded which anything jealous a God He (is)"

*Each word on the verse above is individually spaced in that version (because it goes word for word in the order that it comes in the original text) so that is why that it looks so oddly spaced.

Jay P. Green's "A Literal Translation of the Bible" has the verse down like so:

    Deuteronomy 4:24

"For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire; He is a jealous God."

The "Complete Jewish Bible" lauds out out like this:

    Deuteronomy 4:24

"For ADONAI your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God."

So are just a few translations of the very same Bible verse. They're pretty much all different. So unless you're fluent in Hebrew (and Chaldean & Greek) then you are stuck with picking one of the versions that someone else translated for you. Oh yeah... I'm so in that boat (for now). :/

I guess it all comes down to do the names of God with meanings attached to them that are used in the text do they make your heart smile through the Holy Spirit; or do you want some other translation that fits the bill for your via the Holy Spirit's guiding.

I guess that it'd be best to pray about it and go from there... But that's your call.

    ?????????????????????

    Anyhow...

Personally, I Love this translation of the Bible. =))

Sometimes when I pray, I like to look up God's name in this Bible and pray with God's name that most fits what I am praying for. This Bible had a complete and totally full list of all of God's name that are used in the Bible WITH THEIR MEANINGS. That my friend, I am sure, perks the ears of our great and wonderful Abba Father magnificent God when He hears me calling to Him in the name that HE thought of and CHOSE and/but rarely ever hears anymore. To me when I pray like that, it is like I can feel Him look at me and SMILE. It is beautiful and wonderful beyond words to describe; please try it and see what I mean.

So yes Yes YES, I ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend that you purchase one or more of these Bibles and add it/them to your Bible collection for reading and for study or for giving it as gifts to friends. I've given out three of these, one to my pastor just because I Love him and he is my great friend; and then I gave two to one of my very best friends and his wife, as a wedding gift to each of them. All three of them LOVE their Bible and they all thanked me very much for them. You just can't go wrong with this Bible. To me, it is a no-brainer to purchase it - especially at this deeply discounted price. ;-)

God bless you and yours and thanks for reading my mini book. LoL! =))

I have this edition of this Bible: Names of God Bible Duravella Cover (GW) Mahogany [dark brown], Hebrew Name Design 2011. ISBN-13: 978-0800720667 (Had to really look hard for the ISBN--not on the publication page, but stamped on the back.)

I am not going to comment on the translation or organizational features of this book because other reviews have gone into that.* (see below)

This is probably the most beautiful-looking Bible I own. It's just a pleasure to behold. (a newer edition is available in the fall of 2014). The Duravella is the most authentic-looking imitation leather there is. It is smooth to the touch like high quality leather shoes. Some of the flexi-soft, leather touch, etc. are very nice (I have Bibles with those covers) but often the thread does not match the cover, and most are not as smooth. The names of God in Hebrew on the cover are really nice. The pages are kind of off-white a bit and faintly browned on the edges as if it is an old manuscript. The Bible lays flat. The gold edges are nice and shiny. Because it is so lovely I am enticed to pick it up and read.

One good feature this Bible has (Most of the God's Word Bibles are like this) is that there is only one column, making it feel that you are just reading a regular book. (In fact, it was a God's Word (GW) translation that really introduced me to the Bible; I got hooked. I since have gotten many other translations, but the one-column layout is most comfortable, not intimidating. (I STRONGLY SUGGEST A GOD'S WORD SINGLE COLUMN BIBLE, OR PERHAPS CEB SINGLE COLUMN Bible for people just starting to read the Bible. If it's an ordinary paperback it's easy to read it anywhere--on the bus or train--because it's like an ordinary book.)

*I will say that NO translation of the Bible is perfect. Gordon Fee in the book co-authored with Eldon Epp, "Studies in the Theory and Method of New Testament Textual Criticism" states that if you are doing exegesis, and don't read the Greek texts, then you should compare seven different translations.

I have collected Bibles since the age of 13, growing up as the Son of a Preacher Man.. Always wanted to say that. Anyway I currently own somewhere close to 150 different translations, "Ministry" Bibles (yes I own a PTL Bible).. Reference, Scofield, you name it most likely have it. This one however is now my main reading Bible.

I don't know how to begin to describe how it comes alive while you are reading it. Old and favourite verses take on a different meaning when you realize -forgive me here, I don't know how to shape what I am attempting to say- but you realize that you are dealing with a different aspect of the Lord which lends a different perspective then you had before. Forgive me my stumble I hope it makes sense to you. AllI can really say is this: buy the Bible. Use it for seven evenings and read favourite verses and passages. The second thing I can say, buy it quick before christianbook realizes that they are selling very cheaply.

Having many version of the Bible, including the Gods Word version of this Bible, I was missing the KJV. All new versions have many flaws, incl translation perversions. The KJV is accurate. Another reviewer commented on the difference of this KJV having both the English name of God followed by the Hebrew name in parentheses. I prefer this, since the English KJV tells you which God the verse refers to. I.e. [LORD or God] refers to Jesus, [Lord or GOD] refers to the Father. So all in all this is an absolute winner of a Bible - I couldn't be happier.

I first enjoyed this in the God's Word Translation, then got the KJV for both myself and as gifts. The format is excellent- these 2 ladies know their Bibles, and give a 2-page exposition on almost 70 different names of God. This is a very devotional Bible, and as well, a great study on His different titles and names. The cover is also very neat, with some of His names written in Hebrew. The price is excellent; the size is good, the text is very readable.
